The Rougarou

The Rougarou is a Werewolf that haunts swamps and originates from Lousiana Folklore. The Story is a modern take on this fairytail.

Problem Solving was a big part of this challenge and a lot of what we planned to achieve had to be reduced or scrapped from the video after things broke and couldn't be fixed in time.

Workflow

The project pipeline was set up as a classic 3D Production Pipeline with Preproduction, Production, and Postproduction.

As my key role was Cinematographer, I was lucky to be participating throughout the whole project adjusting framing, look and feel, storyboards, etc. early on in the Project. Once we went over to the Production of the project, I helped in the virtual production space with the creation of footage with the group and took responsibility for creating all the outdoor shots in the graveyard. I also helped with adjusting some of the Mixamo animations (No time for custom animations unfortunately...) that we wanted to use, but problems in Unreal Engine concerning the Animation positioning left us with no option but to leave those ideas behind. (Also meant we had to compromise on the storytelling end of things.)

The time management of the project was a little bit too ambiguous and the editing felt short with less than 24h to spare. With this brief amount of time left the render quality of the 3D stuff unfortunately suffered quite a bit but the editing was finished on time with some better and some worse sections of the video.
